India

In the year 2006, Captain Sridhar Bharatan - CEO of OMCI, a Ship Management Company – seeks contact with Kessels & Smit, The Learning Company. He invites consultants to work on issues regarding talent development and creating a culture of autonomy and responsibility (a project that is linked to the safety on board). This marks the start of a large project on The Autonomous Professional.

Consultants from the Netherlands attract three Indian colleagues to work with them on the project: Rattandeep Singh, Dilshad Dossa and Vatsal Singh. In march 2007 they start up Kessels & Smit India.

The consultants now work with different clients from different sectors on issues like Talent Management, Autonomous Professional, Building Learning Culture and Establishing HR functions.

Working internationally remains a part of the approach in India. A combined team of Dutch and Indian consultants facilitates a merger between a Danish and an Indian multinational company.

Several approaches that were developed internationally prove to work well within the Indian context. Working with Development Centers and with training actors is so effective that this type of work will be expanded on in the future.

The Kessels & Smit consultants live and work in Mumbai, commercial capital of India.
