Now is the moment, in life as in work

I am part of the Research Practice at Kessels & Smit. For me, using research as an intervention is an important part of my job. Organisations and the people who work there intrigue me. Conducting research helps me to postpone judgements and above all it enables me to start investigation.

I have set up a network of young and experienced colleagues from various organisations on the subject of Young Professionals. Young professionals fascinate me, primarily because I am one myself. Moreover, I have noticed this is a subject that plays an increasingly frequent role in organisations: how do we captivate and hold on to young people? How can we combine individual wishes and needs with our organisational aims? I enjoy working on questions like this.

Talent development is another important issue for me. I am seeing a development towards a way of thinking that is no longer based solely on functions and profiles. In future, job descriptions will be adapted to the much more important question of what contribution an individual can make to an organisation. So how do you connect individuals and organisations? Those are the kind of questions that stimulate me.

Work is fun. For me that’s an important starting point. How do we turn organisations into fun workplaces? That is where I would like to make a difference. I see people around me who no longer enjoy their job, in such a situation it is difficult to perform well. In my opinion, enjoyment and happiness should not be postponed.

Now is the moment, in life as in work. When I am present, I have presence. People often find my energy and enthusiasm contagious. My dream is to use this energy for designing organisations in such a way that enjoyment and talent development become a natural part of work.
